“The YVC team is a lot of fun… It’s a great environment. I’m excited to go to work everyday and I think that’s really special.”
-Hannah, AmeriCorps VISTA Expansion Coordinator at Youth Volunteer Corps
AmeriCorps VISTA Positions
Thanks to an AmeriCorps VISTA grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service, Youth Volunteer Corps has the opportunity to launch high-quality and sustainable youth volunteer programs in under-served Missouri and Kansas communities.
Wonder what it’s like to serve with YVC? Read what past VISTAs have to say about their service.
In 2018, YVC leveraged AmeriCorps VISTA resources to launch 7 YVC programs in Columbia, MO; Jefferson City, MO; Joplin, MO; Kirksville, MO; Springfield, MO; Topeka, KS; and Wichita, KS. 119 youth served over 3,200 hours at 29 community agencies. 96% of youth volunteers surveyed said after volunteering with YVC they knew they could make a difference in their community and 92% said they were likely to volunteer again.
By providing youth with the chance to serve their hometowns while developing skills and fostering connectivity, YVC works to further AmeriCorps VISTA’s commitment to end poverty through economic opportunity. To meet this goal, YVC recruits candidates to serve 12-month terms as AmeriCorps VISTA members. For more information, email Sydney Slavin at firstname.lastname@example.org.
VISTA members begin on predetermined orientation dates and will be hired approximately 3 weeks prior to their start date. YVC has the opportunity to place members monthly throughout 2020.
AmeriCorps VISTA members have access to unique benefits and YVC works hard to create a rewarding learning environment for its members. Learn more about the benefits available to members here.
Please read about becoming an AmeriCorps VISTA before applying. This is a unique type of work placement and is different from a traditional career opportunity.
